Job Summary

As a Telecommunications Technical Planner, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cutting-edge network infrastructure and services. Your primary focus will be on strategic network planning, infrastructure design, capacity management, and performance optimization. You will evaluate emerging technologies, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient and reliable telecommunications solutions. You will need to acquire a deep understanding of network architecture, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to balance short-term needs with long-term growth.

Job Duties

  • Provide support or take the lead on various detailed network infrastructure designs, equipment configurations, and connectivity layouts.

  • Ability to write, read and comprehend technical documents and apply the information.

  • Complete accurate drawings in CAD, Visio or other formats.

  • Perform site surveys or walk outs prior to design phase in order to gather complete and accurate documentation.

  • Troubleshoot issues and fix problems encountered during the design phase.

  • Complete work on time, on scope and within budget to ensure company objectives are met.

  • Ensure that communication with clients and peers is done in a professional manner.

  • Learn to adapt to new standards in a changing client environment.

  • Update tools and records.

  • Show a strong work ethic with attention to detail.

  • Participate in account management responsibilities.

  • Design & modify the client’s telecommunication network.

  • Build the technical requirements & documents for the implementation team.

Requirements

  • College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)

 

Technical skills in the following would be an asset

  • FTTH Designs

  • CATV

  • HFC

  • Optical Nodes

  • Optical Transmitters and Receivers

  • RFoG and GPON

  • Radio RF Spectrum

  • Active and Passive RF Devices

  • IP Video Technology

  • SONET

  • WDM Transport

  • DOCSIS 3.1

  • Wireless Technology – LTE, 3G, 4G, 5G

  • Small Cell Technology

  • AC Power

  • DC Power and DC Power Plants

 

Other Assets:

  • Experience with digital signal and electronic communication standards

  • Experience with telecommunication topology standards

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Visio

  • Class 5 Drivers License

 

Working Conditions

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

  • Travel may be required

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
